Volleyball

Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of six players each, are separated by a high net. The objective of the game is to score points by sending a ball over the net and landing it in the opposing team’s court. Players can use any part of their body to hit the ball, but it must be hit, not caught or carried. Each team is allowed a limited number of touches (usually three) to return the ball over the net.

The game is played on a rectangular court, divided by the net, and can be played indoors or on a beach. Points are scored through various means, including when the ball lands in the opponent’s court, when the opponent fails to return the ball, or when the opposing team commits a fault. The game is played in sets, and teams must win a certain number of sets to win the match.

Volleyball promotes teamwork, coordination, and agility, and has various styles and rules depending on the format, such as indoor, outdoor, and beach volleyball. It is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) at the international level.
